Phu Quy island is a small Island in a district which has the same name. Located about 120 km from Phan Thiet City in Binh Thuan province, it is an appealing attraction that can be called the second Maldives in Vietnam. The best time to visit Phu Quy Island is between December and June since the climate is quite good and beaches are tranquil at that period of time, which is suitable for people with motion sickness.
To reach the Island, the only way is to go by boat. But before that, you need to go to Phan Thiet City. You can choose whether to travel by coach or by train from Ho Chi Minh City or from Hanoi, which Ho Chi Minh City is much more preferable. Once you are in Phan Thiet City, you can catch a grab or taxi to Phan Thiet Port and take a boat trip to Phu Quy Island. One notice for you is that travelling by boat is not always daily but depends on the weather of particular period. Thanks to the advanced equipment, it only takes you 2,5 – 3,5 hours to reach the Island by mid-speed ferry instead of 6 hours as before. It will be much better to go around by motorbike which can be rented with a reasonable price. Peaceful and tranquil as it seems without the police, citizens follow strictly the transportation law.
