Farming and Cooking with Locals (tour could be in morning or afternoon)

Leave Hanoi bustling city and drive outskirt to a countryside of Hanoi (about 17km). Get to a farming family, meet and chat with the local host. Start your day to visit a local market, an authentic of century year old market in rural village of Vietnam where many traditional items are trading by local villagers. If on market days, more people from all the surrounding villages would come to trade. Dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, ducks, and bamboo baskets selling. You can see the old woman chewing betel and areca nut and blacksmiths work hard with his bright brazier.

Right next to the market place is a nice vegetable farms. We take a tour around vegetable fields growing a variety of vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, snake peas and corn, as well as fruit gardens with oranges, pomelo, papaya and more., and you may have chance to join with a farmer working in the field.

You will have opportunity to help in the work of the small land-holding. Depend on the season this will involve ranking, sowing, water greens, picking greens and other gardening activities. Chat and share with them to learn about cultivation techniques and lifestyle.

After that, go back to family home to cook delicious and traditional dishes, enjoy local fresh vegetable, fruit, make traditional cake and talk about Vietnamese family’s custom and habits. The host offer free tea and local wine. Enjoy a meal with the host.

End the fun and informative day, bid farewell the the host and drive back to your hotel in Hanoi.

**This trip could be combined with a day to Tay Phuong pagoda or Duong Lam village tour.
